Tribute of Respect

At a meeting of Co. B, 27th Regiment, N. C. Infantry, the following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted:

WHEREAS, It has pleased God in his wisdom and providence to remove from our midst, our comrades in arms, Wm. B. Clapp, August 3rd, at home, and John H. Smith, August 8th, in camp, therefore

Resolved, That in their death the South has lost two true and noble sons and defenders of her soil, whose devotion to their country, has been sealed by their lives; that we feel, that we have lost companions, whose duty was performed on all occasion, and whose qualities, both of head and heart, endeared them to us.

Resolved, That we tender to their families and friends of our comrades, our sincere and heart-felt sympathy, in their sad bereavement, and assure them, that we shall ever cherish their memory.

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the families of the deceased, and to the Greensborough “Patriot” and “Way of the World,” for publication.

                                                Sergt. WILL. U. STEINER, Com.

                                                Corpl. Wm. M. PAISLEY, Com.

                                                            R. S. COBLE, Com.

                                                            W. F. HUNTER, Com.
